OXON HILL, Md. — Texas Senator Ted Cruz wishes President Donald Trump would be outspoken in condemning the actions by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In a meeting with reporters Thursday morning at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Maryland, Cruz expressed frustration with Trump’s lack of clarity when discussing provocations from the Russian government:
“Do I wish President Trump’s rhetoric more clearly articulated that Putin is a KGB thug? Yes. That clarity is important.”
Referencing the recent departure of National Security Adviser Gen. Michael T. Flynn from the White House, Cruz said the press “is creating a false and absurd narrative” that members of the Trump administration are akin to Russian double agents.
