Attorney General Jeff Sessions chose to fire former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe with only two days left to his full retirement and it has caused some controversy.
Some argue that it should have happened long ago. Others say this move was absolutely politicized, with Sessions doing President Trump’s bidding and timing the firing for maximum pain and humiliation.
It does feel kind of dirty.
With that in mind, and in spite of all of the hot takes, the FBI Agents Association account put out a brief Twitter thread.
They didn’t mention anyone by name, but you can pull a lot, just from their words.
“Since its founding, the FBIAA has worked in cooperation with the Bureau and with Congress to develop personnel procedures that simultaneously guarantee the professionalism of the FBI and the rights of Special Agents.”

“While the FBIAA does not comment on personnel matters, the Association remains fully committed to ensuring that every FBIAA member is provided appropriate procedural protections. The FBIAA also strongly believes that personnel decisions should never be politicized.”
