President Trump lashed out at his former attorney Michael Cohen on Twitter Saturday for recording their meetings regarding hush money payments to Playboy playmate Karen McDougal.

After chastising government officials for raiding Cohen’s office in April, Trump went after Cohen himself for recording their meetings and suggested it could be illegal.

“Inconceivable that the government would break into a lawyer’s office (early in the morning) – almost unheard of,” he tweeted. “Even more inconceivable that a lawyer would tape a client – totally unheard of & perhaps illegal. The good news is that your favorite President did nothing wrong!”

Trump continues to advance the falsehood that the FBI broke into Cohen’s offices and his followers continue to repeat that lie. Cohen himself said that there was no break-in and that the FBI treated him well. Trump is even more upset that his conversations with Cohen were taped. Nothing wrong with that either and Cohen was actually wise to do so in this instance. The problem with the taping is that now Trump can’t lie about what transpired during those conversations. Trump has to always have deniability. It’s probably why he didn’t like having the WH stenographers around.
