Broadway, which is set to reopen in September, is requiring its audiences to be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus and wear masks until at least the end of October.

All 41 of New York’s Broadway theaters will require those older than 12 to be fully vaccinated and wear masks when not eating or drinking, a Friday press release from The Broadway League states.

Medical and religious exemptions will be available regarding the vaccine policy.

“As vaccination has proven the most effective way to stay healthy and reduce transmission. I’m pleased that the theatre owners have decided to implement these collective safeguards at all our Broadway houses,” said Charlotte St. Martin, president of the Broadway League.

“A uniform policy across all New York City Broadway theatres makes it simple for our audiences and should give even more confidence to our guests about how seriously Broadway is taking audience safety,” Martin added.
