Car strikes two police officers, public works employee in Washington, DC

Two police officers riding bicycles were caught in a hit-and-run incident in Washington, D.C., around 9 p.m. local time Thursday.

The incident took place just north of 2400 18th St. NW, in the heart of the Northwest quadrant’s Adams Morgan district, according to multiple reports.

A driver operating a white pickup hit the two officers and a third person identified as a public works employee. The driver then proceeded to continue northbound on 18th Street before he crashed.

The investigation is ongoing and police said they could not rule out terrorism.
