A representative for Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe told CNN that McCabe learned of his firing through a press release from the agency, a claim disputed by a Justice Department spokeswoman.
CNN’s Oliver Darcy reported Friday evening that McCabe’s spokesperson “says he learned from a press release that he had been fired by Sessions.”

But the report was quickly denied by a Justice Department spokeswoman, who told The Hill that “Mr. McCabe and his lawyer were informed in advance of the news media.”
