House Speaker Paul Ryan headed to the White House on Friday to update President Trump on the status of the Obamacare repeal bill vote, as the GOP leadership continues to get pushback from some conservatives and moderates.
Ryan’s office confirmed that the speaker is updating the president a few hours before an expected vote on the American Health Care Act. The visit comes after Trump issued an ultimatum on Thursday night to Republicans that negotiations are done on the bill.
Republicans in Congress and the White House have been laboring all week to find enough conservative lawmakers to support the bill. Conservatives say the bill doesn’t go far enough to repeal Obamacare, but Republicans say not all of the law can be repealed under the special rules they are using to allow the bill to pass in the Senate.
