British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Friday he thinks that President Trump should stay clear of the upcoming U.K. election when he visits London next week for a NATO summit.

“What we don’t do traditionally as loving allies and friends, what we don’t do traditionally, is get involved in each other’s election campaigns,” Johnson told LBC radio, according to Reuters.

“The best [thing] when you have close friends and allies like the U.S. and the U.K. is for neither side to get involved in each other’s election,” he added.

Trump waded into U.K. politics in October when he remarked that Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn would be “so bad” for the U.K.

That prompted the British politician to accuse Trump of seeking to interfere in the U.K.’s upcoming general election, which is slated to be held Dec. 12.

“Donald Trump is trying to interfere in Britain’s election to get his friend Boris Johnson elected,” Corbyn asserted on Twitter at the time.
