Celebrities from Kanye West to Angelina Jolie donate to coronavirus charities

Actors and musicians from all genres are donating money to help feed families and support health care workers amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Kanye West has made undisclosed donations to organizations in Chicago and Los Angeles. In Chicago, West’s hometown, the rapper donated to We Women Empowered, which is providing meals to the elderly amid the pandemic, ABC News reported

“Today when I got that call, that Kanye West wanted to help the elderly in Chicago and he chose his hometown in the South Side, his old neighborhood, I was beyond words,” the organization’s founder, Josephine “Mother” Wade, said in a statement, according to ABC.

Actress Angelina Jolie donated $1 million to No Kid Hungry to help children who may have limited access to meals due to school closures.

Kelly Ripa, co-host of “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” and her husband, actor Mark Consuelos, also donated $1 million to coronavirus relief efforts. The couple’s donation will be split between the New York governor’s office to purchase ventilators for hospitals and the organization WIN, which operates women’s shelters in New York City.

Musician Ciara and NFL quarterback Russell Wilson announced last week they will donate 1 million meals to the Seattle food bank Food Lifeline through the charity Feeding America.

Among other professional athletes, NFL player J.J. Watt and soccer star Kealia Ohai Watt, who are married, made donation of $350,000 to the Houston Food Bank, ABC News reported

Amy Adams and Jennifer Garner launched Save with Stories, an initiative where the two actresses will read children’s books in an effort to raise money for children who may have limited access to food due to school closures. The funds will go to Save the Children and No Kid Hungry.
