The potential change of venue is sure to provoke criticism of the president’s continued use of the executive mansion for political purposes.

Eric Trump confirmed Friday that President Donald Trump was considering relocating his campaign’s election night party to the White House, responding to a new report that the president had canceled a planned appearance at his hotel in Washington, D.C.

“No, we’re thinking about moving it, actually, over to the White House for — we’re looking at that right now, and it’s going to be a great night. It’s going to be a really, really beautiful night,” Eric Trump, the president’s son, said in an interview on “Fox & Friends.”

His remarks came after The New York Times reported earlier Friday morning that the president had reneged on plans to visit the Trump International Hotel Washington next Tuesday night and would likely spend the evening at the White House.

There won’t be any party and that is why the plans were changed. Trump knows what is coming and he wants to save himself the humiliation. He can cry and lick his wounds in private.

Earlier, the story was that, according to Trump, DC is “on lockdown,” so he couldn’t have the party at the hotel. Actually, DC is in Phase 2 of reopening, which allows gatherings of, I believe, 50 people. Trump, of course, would want a blowout party with hundreds of guests, so holding his party at the hotel would not be allowed. DC apparently is enforcing its capacity limits, unlike most states and cities which have allowed Trump’s massive rallies in violation of their capacity limits.

I don’t expect we will know for sure on November 3 who really won, but that likely won’t stop Trump from claiming victory. A massive landslide in favor of Biden/Harris, however, might be enough to put a damper on any party Trump has.
