GOP meeting Tuesday night in push for healthcare deal

House Republicans plan to hold meetings into Tuesday evening in a push to agree on a bill to repeal and replace Obamacare.

Vice President Mike Pence met with small groups of Republicans in his House-side office Tuesday to outline some of the proposed changes to the repeal and replace bill that earlier this month could not win enough support for a floor vote.

Later Tuesday, the leaders of the three main GOP factions will meet to discuss the changes, Rep. Bill Flores, R-Texas, told the Washington Examiner. Flores is a member of the Republican Study Committee.

“We’ve got a good solution moving forward,” Flores said. “The continuing dialogue has been helpful. There is going to be a big meeting this evening with the three big organizations and the chairs and leadership. Pence said he would come if needed.”

Republican leadership aides said House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., was not scheduled to attend so far.

Despite the optimism from Flores, conservative holdouts, many of them from the House Freedom Caucus, are still very skeptical of the proposed changes and are awaiting legislative text that has yet to be produced.

In other words, the FC will cave and there will be no repeal.

We’ve all been lied to once again. Another good reason for me to stay an independent and not donate to any Republican ever again.
