Mexico announced it would impose tariffs on $3 billion worth of U.S. products to retaliate against the Trump administration’s tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Mexico last week.
The import duties would be placed on products such as cheese, bourbon, and pork, according to the Washington Post.
Mexico’s announcement Tuesday comes as President Trump seeks to end three-way talks to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement. Instead, National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow said Trump wants to deal separately with Canada and Mexico to restructure NAFTA.
