The Pentagon is reportedly planning to reveal that more than 100 U.S. service members suffered traumatic brain injuries last month as a result of an Iranian missile strike on an Iraqi base, a significant increase from initial reports that 34 service members were injured.

Reuters, citing unnamed officials, reported Monday that the Defense Department will announce that the injuries are up from the most recent tally of 64.

The Pentagon has said it expects the number of individuals diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries, or TBIs, to rise since symptoms can take time to manifest, the newswire reported.

An official for the Pentagon would not confirm the Reuters report, but told The Hill, “We will have a statement later on today.”
