Steve Deace: About that DACA repeal — it doesn't appear to actually be a Repeal

Back in the saddle this morning, and back to regular work. Regarding Trump’s “repeal” of Obama’s illegal executive amnesty, it appears this, too, like Obamacare is not an actual repeal. As of today, no new DACA recipients are being permitted. However, those who have already been granted amnesty have six months to apply for a 2-year extension. Those six months are there to give Congress time to act. This begs the following questions:

1) What happens if Congress doesn’t act? Will Trump allow it to expire permanently and really repeal it then?

2) Is this a bargaining chip for Trump to get Congress to fund his border wall? Meaning, he will sign an amnesty bill for these DACA recipients that comes out of Congress, provided Congress agrees to fund the building of his wall Mexico was supposedly going to pay for?

3) What happens if it’s not bargaining chip, and Congress puts an amnesty for DACA recipients on Trump’s desk? There are enough Republicans in both houses of Congress for amnesty, along with all the Democrats, that I would not discount this happening. Will Trump sign such a bill?

However these questions are eventually answered, despite liberal media hysteria and Trump cheerleader boasting to the contrary, this is not a repeal of DACA.

At best it’s an extended phasing out, and even that is conditional.
