A film adaptation of Conservative Review contributor Steve Deace’s book “A Nefarious Plot” is now in development.

Deace made the announcement on his nationally syndicated radio show Monday evening. The team that made the box-office smash hit “God’s Not Dead,” will be producing the film with an eye for a 2018 release.

Deace told Conservative Review he felt “surrealover the prospect of a film adaptation of his work, and that it was “just really cool and weird for a kid from Iowa at the same time.”

“Less than one percent of books get developed into movies, and that includes some really good books that have sold many more copies than mine did,” Deace said.

In “A Nefarious Plot,” a demon general from Hell named Lord Nefarious describes in gruesome detail why he was tasked by his master, the Devil, with destroying the United States of America, and how he accomplishes his task.

ICYMI last night, here’s the press release that went out this morning on the big news:

Conservative Writer/Broadcaster Steve Deace Signs Movie Partnership with Top Hollywood Duo

Burbank, CA, December 5, 2016 – One of Hollywood’s most profitable film franchises teams up with Conservative Review’s Steve Deace to launch their first foray into the horror-thriller genre.

Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman, whose movie God’s Not Dead is ranked as one of the most profitable films in industry history, have purchased the film rights to Steve Deace’s book A Nefarious Plot through their production arm, Believe Entertainment. They will immediately begin developing the story for a film to be released in 2018.

“We’ve been looking for the right story to expand into the imaginative and compelling horror-thriller genre, and we knew it was Deace’s book as soon as we read it,” said Chuck Konzelman. “We’re into developing movies with spiritual themes, and A Nefarious Plot represents a way to explore those themes in a whole new way for the faith-and-values audience.”

Deace is rated one of the top 100 talk show hosts in the country by Talkers Magazine and is syndicated each weeknight from 9 p.m.-Midnight eastern by the Salem Radio Network. He’s also a prolific writer that has written for USA Today, Politico, Business Insider, and The Blaze in addition to his full-time duties with Conservative Review.

“My goal with A Nefarious Plot was to literally scare the hell out of people, and I’m very excited to see how Believe Entertainment will take it from here and do exactly that,” Deace said.

A Nefarious Plot centers around a demonic force which has long sought to manipulate American history to the ruination of the world’s lone superpower. Numerous thought-leaders and best-selling authors, including Conservative Review’s managing editor and best-selling author Mark Levin, praised the book as a terrifying morality tale in the mold of the C.S. Lewis classic The Screwtape Letters.

“We’re not looking to tone down the spiritual elements of the story; our intention is to make an edgy horror-thriller that also plays for mainstream audiences,” said Cary Solomon of Believe Entertainment.
