The former New York mayor made a dramatic courtroom appearance this week, seeking to challenge Pennsylvania’s election results.

Former acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney on Wednesday slammed Rudy Giuliani’s leadership of the Trump campaign’s election-related legal challenges, saying the effort to reverse the presidential race’s outcome “is not a television program” and should be handled by more experienced attorneys.

“I’m still a little concerned about the use of Rudy Giuliani. It strikes me that this is the most important lawsuit in the history of the country, and they’re not using the most well-noted election lawyers,” Mulvaney, who served as President Donald Trump’s top aide from January 2019-March 2020, told Fox Business.

“There are folks who do this all of the time. This is a specialty. This is not a television program. This is the real thing,” Mulvaney said. “And I was struck by a couple things that Rudy said in court yesterday. So on one hand, I think it needs to go forward. It absolutely does. I wish that it was being prosecuted a little more efficiently.”

Mulvaney’s assessment came after Giuliani, the president’s personal lawyer, filed a last-minute petition in federal court on Tuesday morning to represent the Trump campaign in its controversial lawsuit seeking to challenge the election results in Pennsylvania.

The former New York mayor proceeded to turn in a dramatic courtroom appearance on Tuesday afternoon, but struggled at times to answer the judge’s questions and mount an effective argument to back up the Trump campaign’s baseless claims of widespread voter fraud.

Since Trump appointed him last Friday to oversee any new postelection litigation, Giuliani has drawn scrutiny within the campaign for his conspiratorial defenses of the president — becoming the butt of jokes online after staging a news conference outside a Philadelphia landscaping business adjacent to an adult bookstore and a crematorium.

Well, Trump and his campaign had some high-powered representation, but those lawyers bailed. Most attorneys with expertise in the field are aware that these suits have no merit. And these lawyers want to be paid for any work they do, but given Trump’s track record, they are sure they won’t be.
