President Trump is reportedly ditching a decades-old tradition and canceling the White House press holiday party.

Fox News reported the cancellation, and noted that the White House had made no announcement that the media party would not go on as usual.

The annual gathering is an invite-only soiree including Washington reporters, anchors, commentators, those who covered the White House, and New York media executives.

Trump did hold the annual Christmastime event last year, but did not pose for pictures with media and their guests as presidents and first ladies have usually done at the event.

Instead he made a brief appearance and some opening remarks.

The decision tracks with Trump’s general attitude toward the press. Trump has repeatedly attacked media outlets for being “fake news,” and has criticized publications for negative coverage of the administration.

The past two years, Trump has not attended the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, which is an awards dinner for media that has been attended by every president since Richard Nixon.
